History

↓↓
Broom (Cytisus scoparius and related species) is native to western and central Europe. It has been known since ancient times for its bright yellow flowers and hardy growth. In medieval Europe, broom branches were used for sweeping, which gave the plant its English name. It became a heraldic symbol, especially associated with the Plantagenet dynasty in England. Introduced abroad in the 19th century, broom spread widely to North America, Australia, and Japan. Today, it is admired as an ornamental plant but also considered invasive in many regions.
