JLPT N5
Asking for a Receipt
Japanese
りょうしゅうしょをおねがいします
Ryoushuusho wo onegaishimasu
Lesson & Usage
- [English equivalent: "Receipt, please."] Use this at a register when you need a receipt for your records or work expenses. In Japan, there is a difference between a simple "Reshiito" (receipt) and a more formal "Ryoushuusho" used for business.
Culture & Etiquette
- Japan has a very strict paper-based culture for business accounting. A "Ryoushuusho" is often handwritten or specially printed and is considered a formal legal document for tax purposes. Even for small amounts, asking for one is very common.
