Description

↓↓
Badminton is a fast-paced, indoor or outdoor racquet sport played between two players (singles) or two teams of two players each (doubles). The objective of the game is to hit a shuttlecock (also called a birdie) over a net and into the opponent's side of the court, aiming to score points by making the shuttlecock land in the opponent’s designated area.

History

↓↓
Badminton has roots in ancient games played in Greece, China, and India. The modern version developed from a game called "Poona" played in India during the 1800s. British army officers brought the game back to England. It was named "Badminton" after the Duke of Beaufort’s estate where it was first played. The Badminton Association of England was founded in 1893, organizing the first rules. The International Badminton Federation (now BWF) was established in 1934. Badminton became an Olympic sport in 1992 at the Barcelona Games.
