Description

↓↓
Hurdling is a track and field event where athletes run and jump over a series of evenly spaced barriers called hurdles. The goal is to complete the race as quickly as possible without knocking down any hurdles. Hurdling requires speed, agility, and good technique, and it is featured in various race distances, such as 100 meters for women and 110 meters for men, as well as longer hurdle races.

History

↓↓
Hurdling originated in early 19th-century England, where athletes first leapt over wooden fences in fields. It later developed into a formal track and field event at schools and universities. The men’s 110m hurdles was included in the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896, while the women’s hurdles debuted at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics as the 80m hurdles. Today, the main events are the men’s 110m and 400m, and the women’s 100m and 400m.
