Description

↓↓
Volleyball is a popular team sport where two teams compete to score points by sending a ball over a net and into the opponent's court. Players use their hands, arms, and occasionally other parts of their bodies to hit the ball. The objective is to make the ball land in the opponent’s court, while preventing the opponent from doing the same.

History

↓↓
Volleyball was invented in 1895 by William G. Morgan in Massachusetts, USA. It was originally called "Mintonette" and designed as a less intense alternative to basketball. The name "Volleyball" came from the idea of volleying the ball over the net. The sport quickly gained popularity in YMCA centers across the United States. By 1916, volleyball had spread internationally, including to Asia and South America. The FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) was founded in 1947. Volleyball became an official Olympic sport in 1964 at the Tokyo Games.
